Accreditation Site Visit Program

Accreditation Site Visits are part of a peer-review process that ensures cystic fibrosis (CF) care is of the highest caliber and consistent across the country. Volunteer medical professionals involved in CF clinical care conduct these Accreditation Site Visits.

By providing an opportunity to observe the policies and services being offered at each clinic, Accreditation Site Visits enable continuous quality control and improvement, while facilitating an exchange of information among healthcare workers, patients, and families. In addition, the program monitors the use of Clinic Incentive Grants that are awarded from Cystic Fibrosis Canada, to ensure the most effective and equitable use of this funding.

During an Accreditation Site Visit, medical and clinical personnel at the hosting clinic are able to discuss their roles, treatment protocols, and limitations with medical leaders from CF clinics in other areas. This information exchange is of benefit to both those hosting and conducting the visit, and provides further strength to the Canadian CF clinical network. It also allows Cystic Fibrosis Canada to add a voice to local efforts for increased resources.

Through the Accreditation Site Visit program, Cystic Fibrosis Canada has had numerous successes in improving CF clinical care at the hospitals where care is provided.
